This week in Hedgehogs we have been welcoming spring. It started with a ‘loveliness’ of ladybirds joining us inside on a rainy ‘first day of spring’ Monday morning. We gently encouraged a few into a magnifier pot with some fresh grass to take a closer look. We noticed each ladybird was a little bit different. The children chose to draw some super observational drawings.
We read books like ‘When will it be Spring?’, sang songs and played with toy baby animals. Some of us were vets looking after the animals and making them comfortable places to sleep. We fed the rabbits carrots, lettuce and even a radish.
In our garden area we worked together to plant some seed potatoes. We also planted some baby trees which we are going to look after until they are ready to be planted in our new Forest School area. All we need now is some spring sunshine!
