Hedgehogs Preschool Weekly Update 18/11/2022

Well we certainly have had a busy, but exciting week in Hedgehogs. It’s National Nursery Rhyme week and we definitely wanted to celebrate. Baa Baa Black Sheep is certainly one of our most popular songs to sing here in Preschool but we thought we would put our own spin on it! Once the children stuck down cotton wool, we used coloured water and pipettes to change the colour of it, together we sang “Baa baa rainbow sheep, have you any wool…” and well, you know the rest! Continuing on with the theme, the children have been hard at work building walls for Humpty Dumpty to sit on in our tuff tray. The Hedgehogs team were really impressed with children’s problem solving skills and resilience during this activity. The children also enjoyed helping Incy Wincy Spider get his legs back! We carefully threaded on his legs in order to help him climb the water spout again, their fine motor skills were definitely put to the test with this one!

Reflecting back on this week I’m amazed at how we were able to fit it all in as it’s also been Maths England week! Hedgehogs have been lucky enough to join in with some of the activities happening in school. Monday the children particularly enjoyed taking part in a maths scavenger hunt on the playground. It was lovely to see all the children from different years interact and help one another.
