At the beginning of the week, it was Bikeability for some children from year 5 and 6 who headed out into the village of Horning. They had two intensive days of bicycle safety. Despite some rain, they are now competent when cycling on single-lane roads in moderate traffic, can use simple junctions and are safe with many core functions of responsible cycling. This is a great skill which some pupils continue to use on a daily basis.
In the classroom, it has been another busy week of learning. Maths, has focussed on mental calculations and the best way to answer a variety of problems. While some have been using similar strategies but from a decimal and money point of view.
Our diary writing has captured the essence of the Battle of Britain as we detailed the views of a dogfight battle in the skies. With our Topic focussing on the types of planes that the RAF and the Luftwaffe used, we were able to use this knowledge in our writing. This has also led into the children’s enthusiasm for home learning too. We have had an array of projects brought into school this week, from propaganda posters to model fighter planes that even have motorised propellers. We are always amazed by the creativity and inventiveness children show in their home learning. A thank you to all parents and carers because this wouldn’t be possible without your continued support. We have some fantastic home learning projects coming into school. Proud cyclists receiving their certificates and badges.
