The week was kick started with a trip to the Nest for a morning of Crucial Crew sessions for Year 6 as they learned about how to keep themselves and others safe. They worked through a series of scenarios and activities which included CPR and dealing with an emergency situation.
Back in the classroom, we have continued with our ‘Little Ships’ narrative where the children have developed their use of sentences for effect, their use of commas in lists and for clarity. We have some great stories developing and they have used lots of technical vocabulary gleaned from their topic lessons.
Maths has seen a real buzz of enthusiasm this week as we have used our stem sentences and manipulatives to represent our understanding. Our upper key stage children have been looking at hundredth while others have been bridging tens.
In our Battle of Britain topic, we have continued to investigate the Dunkirk evacuation. Foxes are keen to find out more and more about this topic and we have looked at what went well and what didn’t at the time. Children then formed a debate in class to analyse their findings.
