Otter Class Weekly update 16/02/2024

We’ve had a brilliant week in Otter class and have been working very hard as always. We started a new music unit in our topic lessons and had a fantastic time  using Chromebooks to compose pieces of music and making links to artists.

On Wednesday we learnt about the history of Valentines, and all had great fun making, baking and creating goodies for our grown-ups as a little thank you for all that you do. We started off the morning making chocolate bark and coated strawberries. Later on we made some heart-shaped sugar cookies which we then decorated. We also made some beautiful cards and shared a story ‘Love Grows Everywhere’ which highlights the importance of love in families and communities. In our English lessons we have been finishing ‘Diary of a Wombat’, Year 1 and 2 have produced some super sentence stacks and on Friday had a go at writing their own diary entries for this week, including lots of description in their writing. Reception children created a sequence for the week and produced some amazing  illustrations to go alongside.

In our maths we have been diving deeper into our division unit. We have been working on solving a range of fluency, problem solving and reasoning questions and working out whether we need to divide by 2, 5 or 10. Reception children have

been continuing to master their numbers and have been learning about doubles and adding groups together.

We all look forward to enjoying a well deserved rest over half term, well done Otters.
