We’ve had another fantastic week and have been really enjoying getting in the Christmas spirit! We have been practising our songs for the upcoming performance and were absolute superstars when we travelled down to the village hall for a rehearsal on Tuesday afternoon. For some of us it was the first time being on stage in front of the bright lights, and we handled it amazingly.
In English we have been looking at letter writing through our ‘Jolly Christmas Postman’ story and have already produced some super sentence stacks, filled with description. Our Reception children have been working hard to write up and address the envelopes for our letters to the Three Little Bears and have been getting stamps cut and stuck ready for posting! Through handwriting we have been continuing to identify and practise the features used in letter writing and have started drafting our letters to the North Pole.
In our Maths we have been continuing with our addition and subtraction block. Our Year 1’s have been looking at numbers to 50 and have been working hard with their place value. Year 2’s have been continuing to master multi-step addition and subtraction problems and have been having a go at checking calculations and creating their own number sentences. Reception children have been working hard on mastering numbers to 5, and have been brilliant at both independent and collaborative learning tasks.
In our Topic we have been wrapping up our Music block, we have previously looked at what an ensemble is and where we might have seen one. We have been using body percussion to create our own music and have all been having great fun with our learning.
