Otter Class weekly Updates 22/01/2024

We’ve had a super week in Otter class and have been working hard as always. Towards the end of the week we enjoyed the snowy weather and had great fun making snow angels. We were all very sensible and avoided any slips and slides!

In English this week, we have been wrapping up our writing on Ossiri and the Bala Mengro. On Monday we had an experience lesson and made some brilliant instruments out of junk materials. We have all produced some fantastic sentences about the ogre and came up with some excellent descriptions of what he might look like.In Maths we have been continuing our learning on multiplication. Year 2 have been focussing on the 2, 5 and 10 times tables and have been superstar mathematicians. Year 1 have been looking at doubles and we have been making and drawing arrays to support this. Reception have been re-capping shapes and numbers, and have remembered so much already! We have also been recapping number bonds as part of our early morning work.

Our focus this week in our topic lessons has been on Geography. We have been learning about seasons and how the weather can change within a season, the snow this week was a perfect example! We all created some super season wheels, highlighting the types

of weather we may see at each stage and what sort of activities we might do. We have also been looking at the equator, North and South Poles.
